Report Cards of State Legislators

Concerned Citizens Against Gun Violence (CCAGV) used votes on these bills to rate your officials:

  • Repeal of One gun per Month (HB940) & (SB323) This law lifts the one gun a month rule allowing unlimited purchases of guns in a month. (CCAGV says NO)
  • Gun Buyback Programs (HB22) Makes it more difficult to hold Gun Buybacks, and worse, it requires that guns bought back be offered for sale by auction to a person licensed as a dealer before disposing of them. This puts the guns back on the street, defeating the purpose of the Gun Buyback. (CCAGV says NO)
  • Elimination of Fingerprints on Permits (HB754) & (SB 67) Removes the option to require that an applicant for a concealed handgun permit submit fingerprints as part of the application. This makes it more difficult to properly do checks on people allowed to carry guns in public. (CCAGV says NO)
  • Guns and Alcohol (SB 1395) Makes it a Class 1 misdemeanor for a person who is under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs to carry a loaded firearm in a public place or into the premises of a restaurant or club serving alcoholic beverages (CCAGV says YES)
  • Castle Doctrine (HB48) & (SB4) The “castle doctrine,” allows the use of physical force, including deadly force, by a person in his dwelling against an intruder. The force no longer has to be commensurate with the threat. (CCAGV says NO)
