Last year, the United States averaged almost 8 deaths of children and teens by gun violence each day. Since 2000, the number of mass shootings each year has more than doubled. It is clear that the United States needs innovative gun legislation to ensure public Safety.

Legislators and experts will discuss sensible legislation and launch an interactive tracking site to follow politicians voting records on individual gun bills.

The first panel: Richard’Rip’ Sullivan, State Legislator – VA (Moderator); Marcus Simon, State Legislator – VA; Andrew Goddard, Legislative Director, Virginia Center for Public Safety; Martina Leinz, VA Chapter President – Million Mom’s March…they will discuss gun laws and gun politics in Virginia.

The Second panel: Richard ‘Rip’ Sullivan (Moderator); Josh Horowitz, Executive Director, Coalition to Stop gun Violence (CSGV); Dr. Liza Gold, Professor of Forensic Psychiatry, Georgetown University; Ben Zuhl, Executive Director, Concerned Citizens Against gun Violence (CCAGV)…they will focus on lessons and tools used to prevent gun violence and to identify legislators holding back progress on the issue.
A 30 minute Q&A will follow.
